- Tulsa's game captains were G.J. Kinne and Mike Bryan.
- Tulsa wore throwback red jerseys for the first time since the opening home game last season against New Mexico (9/20/08).
- Tulsa faced a ranked opponent (#15 Houston) for the third time this season. The last time Tulsa played three ranked opponents in the same season was in 1945 (at #8 Indiana, at #11 Oklahoma State and vs. #18 Georgia in the Oil Bowl). Tulsa went 0-3 in those games.
- The last time Tulsa hosted two ranked teams in the same season was in 2004 (#18 Boise State and #24 UTEP). Tulsa went 1-1 in those games with the win coming against UTEP in the final game of the season (11/27/04).
- Sophomore Tyler Holmes made the start at left tackle. It was the seventh different starting lineup on Tulsa's offensive line in nine games this season.

- Charles Clay's 60-yard touchdown reception from G.J. Kinne in the first quarter (6:37) was his longest catch of the season and Tulsa's second longest pass play of the season. It was also Clay's first touchdown reception of the season.
- Charles Clay's two first quarter touchdowns marked his fifth career game in which he has had two or more touchdowns in a game. It also marks the fourth time that Clay has scored both a rushing and receiving touchdown in the same game. The last time Clay had two or more touchdowns in a game was last season against Arkansas (11/1/08).
- Tulsa and Houston's 28 combined first quarter points is the most in a Tulsa game this season and the most in a Tulsa game since Tulsa and UTEP combined for 56 points in the first quarter last season (10/18/08).
- With his second kickoff return of the game (34 yards), Demaris Johnson surpassed the 2,000-yard career yardage mark with a 34-yard return (2,032 yards).
- Charles Clay lined up in the quarterback position for the first time this season making him the fifth player to play quarterback for Tulsa this season.
- True freshman Ricky Johnson caught his third career pass (15 yards from G.J. Kinne) and first career touchdown at the 3:11 mark of the second quarter.
- Tulsa and Houston's 45 combined first half points is the most this since (previous high was 35 points vs. Sam Houston State). It also marks the most first half points in a Tulsa game since last year's game against Houston (11/15/08) when the two teams combined for 59 points.
- Tulsa (310 yards) and Houston (412 yards) combined for 722 total yards in the first half compared to 586 combined first half yards (282 for Tulsa and 304 for Houston) in last season's matchup.
- True freshman Justin Skillens tallied his first career reception (from G.J. Kinne) at the 0:38 mark of the second quarter.
- At the 12:45 mark of the third quarter, Charles Clay scored his third touchdown of the game on an eight-yard pass from G.J. Kinne. This is the second career three-touchdown game for Clay. The last time took place against BYU when Clay caught three touchdown passes (9/15/07).
- Damaris Johnson's seventh reception of the game put him over the 100-yard receiving mark for the fourth time this season and the fifth time of his career.
- True freshman Freeman Kelley caught his first career pass (from G.J. Kinne) in the third quarter.
- Tyron Carrier's 98-yard kickoff return was the first given up by Tulsa since Carrier returned a kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown in last season game (11/15/08).
- Charles Clay's 1-yard rushing touchdown at the 3:28 mark of the fourth quarter was his fourth touchdown of the game. This was his first career four-touchdown game.
- G.J Kinne passed for a career high 334 yards. His previous high was 310 yards against New Mexico earlier this season (9/12).
- Damaris Johnson had a career high for all-purpose yards in a game with 319 yards. It was the first time he has surpassed 300 all-purpose yards in a game during his career.
- Johnson also tallied a career high in receiving yards with 144 yards on 10 receptions.
- Tulsa compiled its most offensive yards of the season with 534 and the most since last season's 632 against Ball State in the GMAC Bowl (1/6/09)
- Tulsa and Houston combined for 91 points-the most since Tulsa and Houston combined for 100 points last season (11/15/08).
- Tulsa and Houston combined for 1,229 yards compared to 1,142 total yards between the two teams in last year's game (11/15/08).
- Tulsa's 45 points was the second most scored this season. Tulsa's biggest scoring effort came against Sam Houston with 56 points (9/26).
- Tulsa was charged with just one penalty for 10 yards-the fewest this season and the fewest since last season against Ball State (1/6/09) when Tulsa had no penalties.
- G.J. Kinne rushed for 100 yards on 16 attempts. It was the first time a Tulsa quarterback rushed for 100 yards since James Kilian had 120 yards against UTEP (11/1/03).
- Kinne also became the first quarterback in Tulsa history to pass for 300 yards and rush for 100 yards in the same game. Coming into the 2009 season, that feat had been accomplished only 24 times in NCAA history.
- Demaris Johnson moved from ninth to sixth place on C-USA's career kickoff yardage chart. He tallied 175 yards on eight returns taking him to 2,080 career yards.
- Tulsa's loss to Houston marked the first time Tulsa has lost four consecutive games since ending the 2003 season with a loss to Georgia Tech in the Humanitarian Bowl and then opening the 2004 season with three straight losses (at Kansas, at Oklahoma State and vs. Navy).
- The last time Tulsa lost four consecutive games in a season was in 2002 when Tulsa closed out the season with losses vs. Rice, at Fresno State, vs. San Jose State and at SMU.
- The last time Tulsa lost back-to-back home games was in 2002 when Tulsa lost to Kansas (43-33) and Boise State (52-24).
