Tulsa and Houston Tip-off in Hoops Tonight

Houston, Texas - It's one hour before tip-off for the Tulsa-Houston men's basketball game at Hofheinz Pavilion, an early season test between two of the teams projected to be at the top of the Conference USA standings this year. Both teams come into the game with 1-0 C-USA marks, while the Hurricane has an overall 1-3 record and UH is 8-6 on the season. Tulsa has an opening league win over Tulane, while Houston topped city rival Rice in its' first C-USA contest on Wednesday.

Each teams boast two players that were named to the Conference USA Coaches' preseason all-conference team. For Tulsa, it's seniors Ben Uzoh and Jerome Jordan, and for the Houston it's seniors Aubrey Coleman and Kelvin Lewis

Uzoh leads the Hurricane in scoring with a 16.6 average, assists at 4.5 and steals at 1.1. He is also shooting 50-percent from the field and 44-percent from three-point range. Jordan averages 13.9 points and a team-leading 8.7 rebounds and 3.0 blocked shots.

For the Cougars, Coleman and Lewis rank first and fourth in C-USA for scoring, while Coleman is the nation's leading scorer with a 25.2 average. Lewis scores 18.1 points per contest.

The two teams have met 37 times before as the Cougars lead the series 19-18. Tulsa has won the last two games, both in Tulsa including a 77-68 home victory last year. The Hurricane has lost its last four games in Houston with the last win coming in February 1963.
