Tulsa's Justin Hurtt Named to Preseason Conference USA Team

Irving, Texas - University of Tulsa senior guard Justin Hurtt was named to the Conference-USA preseason first-team today on a vote by the league's coaches, the C-USA office announced.
The 6'4" Hurtt averaged 14.5 points and 3.4 rebounds last year, while shooting 39-percent from three-point range and 81-percent from the free throw line. He scored in double-digits 25 times and tallied a career-high 34 points at East Carolina. Hurtt led Tulsa in scoring 11 times and also led the Hurricane for steals in nine games.
Hurtt ended the 2009-10 season with his first career double-double as he totaled 22 points and 10 rebounds at Kent State in the opening round of the NIT. He also earned C- USA Player of the Week honors following a 21-point performance in Tulsa's 86-65 win over Oklahoma State.
In his career, Hurtt has averaged 10.3 points, while shooting 43-percent from the field, 39-percent from three-point range and 80-percent from the free throw line.
Hurtt is joined on the first team by UTEP's Randy Culpepper, the preseason player of the year selection, Gary Flowers of Southern Miss, Memphis' Wesley Witherspoon and East Carolina's Brock Young.
Tulsa will begin practices for the 2010-11 season on Friday, and will host "Hoopfest" on Friday night at 8:30 pm at the Donald W. Reynolds Center, where fans can get their first glimpse of this year's Golden Hurricane team.
Tulsa opens the regular season at home on Friday, November 12th against Appalachian State. Game time is 7 pm. Season tickets for the 100th season of Tulsa basketball can be purchased now by calling 918-631-GoTU (4688).
