Softball Plays Host to #8 Oklahoma Tuesday

Senior Vanessa Vice and the Golden Hurricane play host to #8 Oklahoma Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Donna J. Hardesty Sports Complex.

TULSA, Okla. - After being frozen out of a conference series last weekend by a late-winter weather storm, The University of Tulsa softball team returns to the diamond Tuesday evening as it plays host to Oklahoma at 6 p.m. at the Donna J. Hardesty Sports Complex.

Tulsa (15-12, 2-1 C-USA) was snowed out last weekend, canceling its league series against East Carolina. TU won two of three games at UAB to open C-USA play, and went 1-2 in midweek games, beating Mercer and falling Georgia State and Northern Iowa.

The Golden Hurricane is hitting .280 (203-for-726) on the season with 129 runs, 121 RBI, 33 doubles, 29 home runs, 84 walks, a .445 slugging percentage and a .358 on-base percentage. TU pitchers carry a 3.45 ERA in 108.1 innings, allowing 173 hits, 104 runs, 89 earned runs, 85 walks and 192 strikeouts, and a .252 opponent batting average.

Tulsa is led in hitting by senior right fielder Lauren Lindsay who is hitting .444 (36-for-81) with 26 runs, 28 RBI, seven doubles, 13 home runs, 19 walks, a 1.012 slugging percentage, and a .549 on-base percentage. Freshman shortstop Samantha Cobb leads the team with 31 RBI and is hitting .366 (34-for-93) with 17 runs, nine home runs, four doubles, three walks, a .699 slugging percentage and a .388 OBP.

In the circle, junior Jordan Kinard is 5-4 with a 3.52 ERA and has allowed 63 hits, 34 runs, 30 earned runs, 33 walks, 69 strikeouts and a .273 Opp. BA in 59.2 innings. Senior Jackie Lawrence is 5-5 with a 3.68 ERA and has allowed 78 hits, 43 runs, 37 earned runs, 28 walks, 61 strikeouts and a .283 Opp. BA in 70.1 innings. Freshman Kalynn Schrock is 5-3 with a 3.06 ERA and has allowed 32 hits, 27 runs, 22 earned runs, 24 walks, 62 strikeouts and a .178 Opp. BA in 50.1 innings.

Oklahoma (25-6) enters the game with a .290 batting average (232-for-799) with 196 runs, 180 RBI, 37 doubles, four triples, 41 home runs, 130 walks, a .501 slugging percentage, and a .408 on-base percentage. OU pitchers carry a 1.53 ERA in 201.2 innings, allowing 133 hits, 57 runs, 44 earned runs, 68 walks, 203 strikeouts and a .185 opponent batting average.

Oklahoma's leading hitter is senior catcher Lindsey Vandever, who has a .397 batting average, 23 RBI, 23 runs scored, six doubles and five home runs. She slugs .712, and has a .537 on-base percentage. Senior second baseman Amber Flores hits .388, has scored 37 runs , driven in 19 runs, hit four doubles and seven home runs and has a .700 slugging percentage and a .561 OBP. The Sooners are led in the circle by freshman Keilani Ricketts (15-5) and sophomore Allee Allen (5-0). Ricketts has a 1.39 ERA in 111.0 innings and has walked 40 batters and struck out 135. Allen has a 1.58 ERA in 44.1 innings, walking 11 batters with 33 strikeouts.

Tulsa trails the all-time series against Oklahoma, 32-7. The Sooners won the first meeting this season by a 7-0 score in Norman on March 3. The Golden Hurricane went 1-2 against OU last season, and has taken at least one game from the Sooners each year since 2004.
