TULSA, Okla. - University of Minnesota pitcher Lacey Middlebrooks has chosen to transfer to The University of Tulsa to continue her softball career, head coach John Bargfeldt announced.
Middlebrooks, a native of Wake Village, Texas, has enrolled at TU and intends to play the 2011 season.
"We are very excited about adding Lacey Middlebrooks to our pitching staff," Bargfeldt said. "She is a pitcher that brings Division I experience and like our other pitchers has always been the ace of her staff. With her addition, we have the most diverse style of pitchers since I have been here."
As a freshman and the ace of the Golden Gopher staff in 2010, Middlebrooks pitched in 30 games and made 26 starts, posting a 15-14 record and a 2.52 ERA in 172.0 innings. She allowed 148 hits, 91 runs, 62 earned runs, 70 walks and 165 strikeouts, while opposing batters hit .224 against her. Middlebrooks also ranked among the top ten in the Big Ten in ERA among pitchers with regular appearances.
Middlebrooks will add valuable pitching depth for Tulsa, which finished the 2010 season 31-21 and 14-6 in Conference USA at second-place in the regular season. The Hurricane graduated one of its three pitchers from last season's staff and will also bring in one freshman pitcher from the 2010 signing class.
