Tulsa at Tulane Saturday

NEW ORLEANS - The Tulsa basketball team plays at Tulane Saturday, in a game televised by Cox Sports Television (Ch. 269 in Tulsa) at 2 p.m. at Fogelman Arena.

The Golden Hurricane (9-9, 2-2 C-USA) is playing the second of a two-game road swing, and its first of the season against Tulane (12-5, 2-2 C-USA). The game will also be broadcast on the Golden Hurricane Radio Network, which in Tulsa is KRMG AM 740/102.3 FM. Live audio will also be available via Hurricane Vision on www.tulsahurricane.com.

Tulsa averages 71.9 points per game while allowing 69.3 points per game. The Golden Hurricane shoots 44 percent from the floor and allows opponents 42 percent shooting. TU out-rebounds foes, 36.6-32.3 rebounds per contest. The Hurricane also shoots 36 percent from three-point territory and has a .713 free-throw percentage.

Four TU players average more than 10.0 points per game this season. Justin Hurtt ranks second in C-USA and ranks 16th in the nation with 20.8 points per game. Steven Idlet averages 13.8 ppg, Scottie Haralson averages 12.3 ppg and Jordan Clarkson averages 10.2 ppg. Idlet shoots 52 percent from the floor, and Hurtt averages 43 percent from the floor and 88 percent shooting from the free throw line. Idlet and Joe Richard lead TU with 6.4 and 6.1 rebounds per game, respectively. Hurtt leads the Hurricane with 50 assists (2.8 apg), while Pope has 35 assists (1.9 apg) and Clarkson has 28 assists (2.0 apg).

Tulane averages 74.4 points per game and 35.1 rebounds per game. The Green Wave shoots 45 percent from the field, has a .364 three-point percentage, and .740 free throw percentage. Tulane opponents average 64.4 points per game, a .443 field-goal percentage, .317 percent from long range, and 31.4 rebounds per game. Three Green Wave players average more than 10.0 points per game, led by guard Kendall Timmons, who leads Tulane with 17.4 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.0 steals, and averages, 2.8 assists per game. Guard Jordan Callahan averages 13.4 ppg and leads the team with 3.9 apg. Guard Kris Richard averages 13.2 ppg and leads the team with 6.3 rpg, while guard/forward Aaron Holmes averages 9.6 ppg, and shoots 56 percent from the floor.

This is the 10th meeting between Tulsa and Tulane. Tulsa leads the series, 5-4. TU is 3-3 against the Green Wave under Doug Wojcik, and 1-1 in New Orleans. The Golden Hurricane won last season, 73-59, in Tulsa. Tulane won the three previous meetings - 58-56, in the 2007 C-USA Tournament in Memphis; 67-65 (OT) in Tulsa in 2008; and, 76-75 (OT), in New Orleans in 2009. Those games were decided by an average of 1.7 points. The Hurricane won the three meetings from 1997-2007; including an, 86-80, double overtime victory in Tulsa (1997); a, 63-59 win in Tulsa (2006); and a, 79-78, win in New Orleans (2007). Tulsa is 1-2 all-time vs. Tulane in New Orleans, the last two of which were decided by one point. Five games in series history have been decided by four points or less.
