TULSA, Okla. - Justin Hurtt averaged 22.5 points in two games last week and hit the game-winning jumper to push Tulsa past UTEP on Saturday, and for his efforts was named the Conference USA Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Hurtt, the C-USA leading scorer this season, shot 53 percent from the floor - including 40 percent from three-point range - in Tulsa's two games last week. He made clutch plays down the stretch in both games, including the game-winner against C-USA first-place UTEP.
In Saturday's contest, Hurtt led the Golden Hurricane to a, 69-68, win over the Miners with 18 points, including 15 in the second half, on 8-of-14 shooting from the floor.
Wednesday against SMU, Hurtt made another clutch jump shot - plus the free throw - to give Tulsa the lead with 8 second left. He totaled 27 points against the Mustangs, shooting 50 percent from the floor, and made five three-pointers, adding a pair of assists.
This is Hurtt's first weekly C-USA honor of the season and second of his career.
