ORLANDO, Fla. - Justin Hurtt led all scorers with 23 points and added four assists, but it was not enough, as the Golden Hurricane fell, 58-57, at UCF Saturday evening at UCF Arena.

TU had a shot in the final seconds. The Hurricane made a big defensive stop after a UCF inbounds play, but Scottie Haralson's three-point attempt was just off the mark.

The Golden Hurricane fell to 13-11 overall and 6-4 in C-USA play, while UCF improved to 15-8 overall and 2-8 in league play.

Hurtt hit four three-pointers and added four assists and five rebounds. Steven Idlet grabbed nine rebounds and scored seven points, while Joe Richard had five points and five rebounds. Jordan Clarkson also dished four assists for TU. UCF was led by Keith Clanton's 16 points and Marcus Jordan's 15 points and seven assists.

Tulsa hit seven three-pointers - four by Hurtt and three by Haralson, who finished with nine points - and shot 36 percent from the floor. TU held the Knights to 38 percent shooting, although UCF made 48 percent of its field goals in the second half.

The Golden Hurricane outrebounded the Knights, 40-34, including 14-9 on the offensive boards. Most of the other numbers were even as well. TU had 22 points in the paint to UCF's 24. Both teams only turned the ball over nine times. Tulsa had 10 points of turnovers to the Knights' seven, and both teams had 11 second chance points.

Both teams made 20 field goals, TU made seven three-pointers to UCF's five, and the Hurricane made 10-of-16 free throws, while the Knights made 13-of-18.

UCF started the second half on a 17-5 run to move ahead, 42-34, after TU led at the half, 29-25.

UCF guard Isaac Sosa hit a three-pointer to begin the second half, and Hurtt answered with another three that made the score, 32-28, TU. A UCF layup and a jumper knotted the score at 32 apiece.

Hurtt hit a jumper to give TU the lead again, but a layup by Clanton and a three-pointer by P.J. Gaynor gave the Knights a 37-24 lead with 15:00 left in the game. From there, Tulsa played catch up for the rest of the game.

UCF built up an eight-point, 42-34, lead with 12:12 remaining, but Tulsa responded with its own 7-2 mini run to close the gap to three points at, 44-41, with 10:03 left. UCF then went back out to a seven-point lead at, 51-44, with 6:26 remaining.

The Golden Hurricane closed the gap to three point four times in the next five minutes before it finally cut the deficit to one point at, 56-55, with 1:27 on the clock with a layup by Bryson Pope.

A pair of free throws by Clanton brought the score to, 58-55, with 1:10 remaining, and Hurtt made two free throws with 45 seconds left to make the score, 58-57, before the final sequence.

The Golden Hurricane only committed three turnovers and scored 18 points in the paint in the second half.

Tulsa led, 29-25, at halftime on the strength of five three-pointers, and a defense that held UCF to 30 percent shooting.

The Hurricane took a five-point lead, the largest advantage of the first half by either team, at, 20-15, with 9:35 left in the period. The score was tied six times in the first half and the lead changed hands twice.

With the score knotted, 23-23, at the 4:47 mark, Hurtt made a three-pointer that gave Tulsa a, 26-23, lead. Clanton got a dunk to make the score, 26-25, and Richard hit a pair of free throws, giving the Hurricane a, 28-25, lead with 2:26 left in the half. A single free throw by Steven Idlet made the score, 29-25.
