Cobb Named C-USA Hitter of the Week

TULSA, Okla. - Tulsa sophomore Samantha Cobb hit .571, drove in nine runs and scored six runs to lead the Tulsa softball team to four wins last week, and was named the Conference USA Hitter of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Cobb went 8-for-14 at the plate to lead Tulsa to a 4-1 week, including a 4-0 sweep through the Holiday Inn-Tulsa City Center Festival over the weekend. She totaled three extra base hits and 13 bases to compile a .929 slugging percentage and a .588 on-base percentage. In all, she accounted four 14 of Tulsa's 34 runs, or 41 percent, scored on the week.
Thursday against Drake, Cobb went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored, while also drawing a walk. Friday against Iowa State, she accounted for five of Tulsa's nine runs with five RBI, including a three-run blast into a 30 mph wind. Saturday against North Dakota, Cobb doubled twice and scored twice, and against Ohio State on Sunday, drove in a run, scored a run and walked once.
The Golden Hurricane (14-6) plays at No. 10 Oklahoma Wednesday at 6 p.m. The game will be televised in Tulsa and Oklahoma City on Cox Cable Channel 3/703 HD.
TU opens C-USA play this weekend when it welcomes Marshall to town for a three-game series. The teams will play a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 1 p.m., and a single game Sunday at noon.
