TULSA, Okla. - Tulsa freshman pitcher Aimee Creger earned her third Conference USA Pitcher of the Week honor after pitching the Golden Hurricane to three wins last week, including a series victory over C-USA foe UAB and a win at Kansas, the league office announced Monday.
Creger struck out 28 batters and allowed just three runs over 21.0 innings last week, as she picked up complete-game wins in all three of her starts. She added three RBI and two runs scored on four hits at the plate to lead Tulsa to a 4-1 week against Kansas and UAB.
Wednesday at Kansas, she struck out 12 batters, setting the TU single season strikeout record, and allowed a pair of runs on six hits to led the Golden Hurricane to a win. In that 4-2 victory, she also went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored.
On Friday in the pivotal C-USA series against UAB, Creger allowed just two hits and struck out nine batters on her way to the series opening victory. She also scored a run in the 2-1 win.
In the series rubber match on Saturday, Creger had perhaps her best performance at the most critical time. She came back to pitch a two-hit shutout to lead the Hurricane to the series clinching win, taking a hold of first place in the C-USA standings. She took a no-hitter into the seventh inning, and allowed just three baserunners, striking out seven batters in the game.
