TULSA, Okla. - The University of Tulsa freshman Aimee Creger was named to the 2011 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division I All-America Third Team, the NFCA announced Wednesday.

Creger, a native of Yukon, Okla., is TU's second NFCA All-America selection. The Conference USA Freshman of the Year was also a 2011 All-C-USA First Team and an NFCA All-Midwest Region First-Team selection.

"Aimee was a big part of a Tulsa team that achieved so many first-time accomplishments," Tulsa Head Coach John Bargfeldt said. "To come in as a freshman and set so many individual records and help set so many team records, just exemplifies the dominant season that she had in her freshman year. Other than being a great teammate, one of the best things about Aimee, is that I know she wants to keep coming back throughout the rest of her career and keep getting better than ever."

Creger finished the season with a 24-3 record and a 1.05 ERA, setting school records for wins, strikeouts (256), and opponent batting average (.125). She also set school records with 11 shutouts and an average of 9.28 strikeouts per seven innings. As of the latest NCAA stats released May 29, she ranked fifth in the nation in ERA and 37th in strikeouts, as well as second with 3.3 hits allowed per seven innings and 17th with 9.3 strikeouts per seven innings.

In addition to her work in the circle, Creger wreaked havoc at the plate as well, hitting .276 with 22 RBI, 15 runs, 29 hits, a .448 slugging percentage and a .345 on-base percentage in 105 at-bats as a pitcher and designated player.

Creger finished the regular season with a 22-2 record and a 0.83 ERA, which ranked third in the nation at the time. She became the first pitcher in TU history to finish the regular season with a sub-1.00 ERA.

Creger was also part of a Golden Hurricane club that set five single season school pitching records, including strikeouts (459), opponent batting average (.186) and fewest hits allowed (272). With its 46-15 record, TU also totaled the second-most wins and the fewest losses in school history.

Lauren Lindsay (2007-10) was an NFCA Third-Team All-America as a senior in 2010.
