Softball Opens Fall Exhibition Schedule This Week

TULSA, Okla. - The Tulsa softball team opens the fall season this week when it takes on Labette Community College Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 5 p.m. at the Donna J. Hardesty Complex.
The Golden Hurricane will play eight games as part of its fall exhibition schedule, in preparation for the 2012 softball season, its seventh under head coach John Bargfeldt.
Tulsa travels to Arkansas for a doubleheader on Sept. 24, beginning at 2 p.m. The Hurricane will also play host to Division I opponents Central Arkansas and Missouri State on Oct. 8 beginning at 11 a.m. TU takes on UCA at 11 a.m. and Missouri State at 3 p.m.
Tulsa welcomes Connors State on Sept. 28 for a 5 p.m. contest, and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M on Oct. 16 for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
The Golden Hurricane, which won the 2011 Conference USA regular season championship and advanced to the final round of the NCAA Norman Regional, returns 12 players from the 2011 roster, including six all-conference selections.
Returning players for Tulsa include 2011 Third-Team NFCA All-American and C-USA Freshman of the Year Aimee Creger, a sophomore pitcher, as well as All-C-USA first-team selections junior center fielder Caitlin Everett, junior shortstop Samantha Cobb, and junior pitcher/DP Lacey Middlebrooks. Second-Team All-C-USA selections sophomore third baseman Jill Barrett and sophomore outfielder/second baseman Shelby Blanton also return for TU.
The Hurricane welcomes back senior second baseman Skylar Swanson and junior catcher Cassidy Bowen, as well as veteran outfielder Jessica Stoelke and sophomores Haley Henshaw, an outfielder, and Emma Horton, a catcher. Sophomore pitcher Kalynn Schrock returns to the team after a redshirt 2011 season.
TU has added five players for the 2011-12 year, including freshmen Jodi Edmiston, Amy Harrison, Julie Kernen and Samantha Rhodes, while bringing in Cierra Hughes, a transfer from Oklahoma.
