Clarkson Named C-USA Player of the Week

Sophomore Jordan Clarkson earned his first C-USA Player of the Week honor Monday.

TULSA, Okla. - Tulsa sophomore Jordan Clarkson averaged 18.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.5 blocks to lead the Hurricane to two wins last week, and was named Conference USA Men's Basketball Player of the Week as voted on by a panel of the league's media, it was announced Monday.

The 6'4" guard from San Antonio totaled 37 points, combined with nine assists, five blocks and a .571 field goal percentage - including 43 percent from downtown and 83 percent from the free throw line - to steer the Golden Hurricane (13-9, 6-2 C-USA) as it extended its winning streak to six games.

In Saturday's road win at SMU, Clarkson put up one of his best performances of the season, pouring in 22 points, along with game-highs of six rebounds, six assists and four blocks. He made 9-of-14 field goals (.643), including 3-of-4 three-pointers, and scored seven of his 22 points in the final two minutes of the Hurricane's 66-60 win. His six assists matched a career high, and his total of four blocks was a new personal best.

In Wednesday's win over UCF, which sat in first place in the C-USA standings at the time, Clarkson tallied 15 points, making seven free throws in the final 1:15 to help Tulsa pull away to a 66-58 advantage, leading to the 66-61 victory. He dished three assists and connected on 9-of-10 foul shots in the game, accounting for nearly all of TU's 10 made free throws.

This is Clarkson's first career C-USA Player of the Week honor. He was a four-time Freshman of the Week selection last season.
