Men's Basketball Plays Host to Houston Tonight

TULSA, Okla. - The Tulsa basketball team plays host to Houston for a rematch at 7 p.m. tonight at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.

The Golden Hurricane (14-10, 7-3 C-USA) has won nine of its last 12 games overall, and will attempt to avenge a league-opening overtime loss at UH. The Cougars (11-12, 3-7 C-USA) are 2-3 in their last five contests. Live audio and live stats will be available at www.TulsaHurricane.com.

Jordan Clarkson leads the Hurricane, which scores 65.8 points per game, with 15.9 points and 2.8 assists per contest. Scottie Haralson averages 11.2 points and makes 3.0 three-pointers per game, while Steven Idlet scores 9.5 points and grabs 5.2 rebounds per game. Tim Peete also dishes 2.3 assists per outing, while Kodi Maduka leads TU with 6.3 rebounds and adds 8.0 points and 1.7 blocks.

The Golden Hurricane ranks 30th in the nation in rebounding margin, averaging 36.1 rebounds per game to its opponents' 30.4 rpg. The TU defense holds its foes to a .411 field goal percentage and 62.8 points per game - including a .406 field goal percentage and 59.9 ppg in C-USA play. Tulsa also ranks 24th in the country in blocked shots, averaging 5.2 per contest. TU shoots 45 percent from the floor.

Houston is led by Jonathon Simmons, who averages 14.8 points and 4.8 rebounds per game, while Alandise Harris scores 13.7 points per outing. TaShawn Thomas and Joseph Young score 10.8 and 10.6 points, respectively to round out the four double-digit scorers. Thomas leads UH with 8.0 rebounds and 2.2 blocks. Houston scores 73.5 points per game, shooting .465 from the floor, .357 from three-point range and .723 from the free throw line, and allows opponents to score 73.2 points, shooting .439 from the field and .358 from downtown. The Cougars average 36.4 rebounds and allow 34.8 rebounds per game.

This is the 42nd meeting between Tulsa and Houston. The Cougars lead the series 21-20 after having won an overtime game earlier this season, 70-69. The Hurricane has an 11-9 record in games played in Tulsa, including a game at the ORU Mabee Center in the 1982 NCAA Tournament. Tulsa has won the last three home contests at the Reynolds Center, while winning those games by a 6.0 margin.
