Softball Travels for C-USA Series at Marshall

TULSA, Okla. - The Tulsa softball team travels to Huntington, W.Va., this weekend for a Conference USA series against Marshall at Dot Hicks Field.

The Golden Hurricane (27-8, 10-2 C-USA) and Thundering Herd (24-16, 10-5 C-USA) play at a doubleheader at noon CT Saturday and a single game at 11 a.m. CT Sunday. Live stats and live video will be available at www.TulsaHurricane.com.

Tulsa is hitting .326 (321-for-984) with 180 RBI, 195 runs, 48 doubles, 11 triples and 25 home runs, and has a .474 slugging percentage and a .391 on-base percentage with 98 walks. The Hurricane has a 2.37 team ERA with 232 strikeouts, 121 walks, 197 hits, 116 runs and 80 earned runs allowed, and has a .225 opponent batting average.

Tulsa is led in hitting by junior shortstop Samantha Cobb, who is hitting .402 (49-for-122) with 40 RBI, 36 runs, nine home runs, a .721 slugging percentage and a .448 on-base percentage. Junior center fielder Caitlin Everett is hitting .388 (50-for-129) with 39 runs, 17 RBI, a .496 slugging percentage and a .432 OBP. Sophomore third baseman Jill Barrett hits .418 (51-for-122) with 32 runs, 18 RBI, and a .457 OBP. Senior infielder Skylar Swanson has 40 RBI and hits .306 with five doubles, eight homers and a .593 slugging percentage and a .386 OBP.

In the circle, junior Lacey Middlebrooks is 11-3 with a 1.87 ERA in 104.2 innings, and has allowed 82 hits, 41 runs and 28 earned runs, with 82 strikeouts and 49 walks. Sophomore Aimee Creger is 13-3 with a 2.58 ERA in 95.0 innings, and has allowed 59 hits, 42 runs and 35 earned runs, with 125 strikeouts and 53 walks. Sophomore Kalynn Schrock is 3-2 with a 3.25 ERA and has allowed 56 hits, 33 runs and 17 earned runs, with 25 strikeouts and 19 walks in 36.2 innings.

Marshall hits .282 (293-for-1040) with 153 RBI, 183 runs, 44 doubles, two triples and 22 home runs, and has a .391 slugging percentage and a .361 on-base percentage with 104 walks. The Thundering Herd has a 2.54 team ERA with 249 strikeouts, 114 walks, 219 hits, 133 runs, and 96 earned runs allowed and a .218 opponent batting average.

Tulsa and Marshall have played 19 times. Tulsa leads the series, 14-5. The Golden Hurricane has won the last 10 meetings, dating back to 2008 when the Thundering Herd won the first game of the series. TU won all four games last season - the regular season series at home and the first round of the C-USA Tournament. Marshall won five of the first nine meetings since 2006. Tulsa is 6-3 all time against the Herd in Huntington.
