Softball Faces Arkansas in Strike Out Cancer Game Wednesday

The Golden Hurricane plays host to Arkansas at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the annual Strike Out Cancer game.

TULSA, Okla. - The Tulsa softball team plays host to Arkansas in a midweek rematch at 4 p.m. Wednesday in its annual Strike Out Cancer game at the Collins Family Softball Complex.

The Golden Hurricane (31-12, 14-4 C-USA) defeated the Razorbacks (24-21, 5-17 SEC), 6-0, in Fayetteville back on March 28. This game is Tulsa's annual NFCA Strike Out Cancer game, in junction with the National Fastpitch Coaches Association to benefit the American Cancer Society.

TU will also celebrate NCAA Indoor Mile Champion Chris O'Hare Wednesday, as the junior runner will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Live stats and live video will be available on www.TulsaHurricane.com. The game can also be heard on 88.7 FM HD3 Hurricane Spirit Radio.

Tulsa is hitting .315 (375-for-1189) with 195 RBI, 217 runs, 52 doubles, 12 triples and 26 home runs, and has a .445 slugging percentage and a .382 on-base percentage with 121 walks. The Hurricane has a 2.46 team ERA with 278 strikeouts, 149 walks, 240 hits, 141 runs and 102 earned runs allowed, and has a .226 opponent batting average.

Tulsa is led in hitting by junior shortstop Samantha Cobb, who is hitting .370 (54-for-146) with 42 RBI, 40 runs, 10 doubles, 10 home runs, a .658 slugging percentage and a .429 on-base percentage. Junior center fielder Caitlin Everett is hitting .397 (62-for-156) with 46 runs, 19 RBI, a .487 slugging percentage and a .440 OBP. Sophomore third baseman Jill Barrett hits .430 (64-for-149) with 34 runs, 20 RBI, a .466 slugging percentage and a .466 OBP. Senior infielder Skylar Swanson has 43 RBI and hits .278 with seven doubles, eight homers and a .526 slugging percentage and a .361 OBP.

In the circle, junior Lacey Middlebrooks is 15-4 with a 2.02 ERA in 138.1 innings, and has allowed 110 hits, 55 runs and 40 earned runs, with 110 strikeouts and 71 walks. Sophomore Aimee Creger is 14-5 with a 2.76 ERA in 114.1 innings, and has allowed 71 hits, 53 runs and 45 earned runs, with 142 strikeouts and 59 walks.

Arkansas hits .248 (280-for-1128) with 172 RBI, 191 runs, 57 doubles, eight triples and 47 home runs, and has a .438 slugging percentage and a .361 on-base percentage with 163 walks. The Razorbacks have a 3.25 team ERA with 185 strikeouts, 95 walks, 337 hits, 175 runs, and 139 earned runs allowed and a .282 opponent batting average.

Tulsa and Arkansas have played 20 times; Arkansas leads the series, 11-9. The Golden Hurricane defeated the Razorbacks, 6-0, on March 28. The Hurricane and Razorbacks split a doubleheader in 2010 - TU won 13-2 and Arkansas won 3-1. Tulsa won in the 2008 regular season, 2-1, but Arkansas won in the NCAA Tournament, 7-5. In 2009, the Razorbacks won in the regular season, 9-5, but the Hurricane trumped the Hogs in the NCAA Regional, 6-0. TU also won, 7-4, in 2006, and is 5-3 against Arkansas under John Bargfeldt. TU is 4-3 vs. UA all-time in Tulsa.
