TULSA, Okla. - The University of Tulsa will formally dedicate the new Collins Family Softball Complex in a ceremony prior to TU's final home game against UTEP at 1 p.m. Sunday.

The public ceremony will take place on the field as part of the normal pregame routine beginning at 12:55 p.m., and will feature University President Dr. Steadman Upham, Trustee Susie Collins and the entire Collins family.

Admission to Sunday's game is free to all fans.

The Collins family will join the TU players on the field during starting lineups and, following remarks from President Upham, a member of the Collins family will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

The crown jewel of the TU softball complex is the new locker room facility beyond the fence in right field. The building, completed in January, features a players' locker room, team room, sitting room, coaches' game day office and umpires locker room.

The Golden Hurricane (33-11, 14-4 C-USA), with a one-game lead at the top of the Conference USA standings, plays its final home series of the season against league rival UTEP (14-33, 3-18 C-USA), beginning with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Saturday. The series and home finale take place at 1 p.m. Sunday. TU seniors Jessica Stoelke and Skylar Swanson will be honored in a postgame ceremony Sunday.

Live stats and live video for all three games will be available on www.TulsaHurricane.com. The games can also be heard on 88.7 FM HD3 Hurricane Spirit Radio.

During his term as Chairman of the Board of Trustees (1997-2008), Fulton Collins oversaw tremendous advances in TU's campus growth, academics, fundraising, and national standing. Even as terminal illness set in, he remained enthusiastic about TU's role in the future of the Tulsa community and continued to engage others to outline ambitious steps for the community. With a mounting sense of urgency and an executive's unflinching focus, Fulton prepared a final project list for the University on the plane ride home from M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

The dedication of this facility completes Fulton's list and marks a bittersweet milestone - though certainly not the end of the Collins Family's indelible TU legacy. The University continues to be blessed by the ongoing service and support of Trustee Susie Collins and the friendship of the entire Collins family.
