TULSA, Okla. - The University of Tulsa Head Coach Danny Manning announced Wednesday the signing of point guard Mitchell Wilbekin and guard/forward Micah Littlejohn to a National Letters of Intent during the early signing period.
Wilbekin is a 6-1, 165-pound point guard from The Rock School in Gainesville, Fla. Littlejohn is a 6-6, 180-pound wing from Mansfield High School in Mansfield, Texas.
Wilbekin has averaged 14.3 points and 4.2 assists per game in his three high school years. As a junior in 2012-13, Wilbekin averaged 15.2 points and 3.6 assists while earning first-team all-state and state tournament Most Valuable Player honors. As a sophomore, he averaged 12.3 points and 2.7 assists per contest, and was a second-team all-state selection. Wilbekin is the younger brother of Florida senior guard Scottie Wilbekin.
"We are very excited about Mitchell Wilbekin becoming a part of our program," Manning said. "He has the savvy and understanding of the game, and he has been battle-tested because of the high level of ball played at his high school and competing against his older brother. Mitchell has the ability to score, and is a good distributor of the ball to his teammates. He is a quality person and a hard worker, and will be a great addition to our program. He has developed very well under coach Justin Harden at The Rock School, and his parents, Svend and Katy are wonderful people and great role models."
Littlejohn averaged 16 points, five rebounds and three assists as a junior at Mansfield High School in 2012-13, and earned second-team District 7-5A honors. He plays for the Dallas Mustangs AAU team.
"Micah Littlejohn will be a great addition to our program," Manning said. "He is an athletic wing, with the ability to play outside or on the inside, and drive and score the ball. Micah has a great work ethic and a wonderful up-bringing by his parents, Michael and Dorothy. He developed very well as a basketball player at Mansfield High with coach Jason Speakes and with the Dallas Mustangs AAU club with coach Tony Johnson."
The Golden Hurricane plays its next contest Saturday at Missouri State. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m., and the game will be broadcast on ESPN3.com and on the Hurricane Radio Network.
