Basketball Plays at Missouri State Saturday Night

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Tulsa basketball team embarks on the road for the first time this season as it travels to Springfield, Mo., to take on Missouri State at 7 p.m. Saturday at JQH Arena.
The game can be seen on ESPN3.com, and heard on the Golden Hurricane Radio Network, in Tulsa on KRMG AM 740/102.3 FM. The Hurricane enters the game 0-1 after falling to Oral Roberts Sunday, while the Bears are 1-0, with a road victory over Old Dominion.
This is 38th meeting between Tulsa and Missouri State. MSU leads the series, 19-18. The Golden Hurricane claimed a 61-42 victory last season in Tulsa. The home team has been victori-ous in each of the last five meetings since 2008. The Bears won in 2011, 69-64, in overtime in Springfield, the Golden Hurricane won, 62-50, in 2010 at the Reynolds Center, and the Bears took the contest in 2009, 83-75, in Springfield. Tulsa also defeated Missouri State, 70-67, in 2008.
TU has won 13 of the last 16 meetings by an average of 10.5 points, while MSU has an average margin of victory of 6.0 points in its three wins in that stretch. Tulsa is 6-12 all-time against MSU in Springfield.
Tulsa was led in scoring against Oral Roberts by Rashad Smith and Shaquille Harrison, who had 19 and 18 points, respectively. D'Andre Wright and Pat Swilling Jr. each scored seven points, while Rashad Ray added six points and a team-high four assists. James Woodard led TU with seven rebounds, and scored five points.
Saturday's contest against Missouri State is the first in a string of four straight games for Tulsa against old Missouri Valley Conference rivals.
