Tulsa Takes on No. 14 Wichita State Wednesday

TULSA, Okla. - The Tulsa basketball team plays host to 14th-ranked Wichita State Wednesday at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

TU fans are encouraged to wear blue for a BLUE OUT, and the first 500 fans through the doors will receive a blue TU t-shirt. In addition rally towels will be placed on the seats for Hurricane fans. The contest will be televised by CBS Sports Network.

This will be the 123rd meeting between the Golden Hurricane (0-2) and the Shockers (4-0). It is the longest-played series for Tulsa, which Wichita State leads 62-60. The Shockers have won the last five meetings, including an 86-60 victory last year in Wichita. WSU has won the last two games in Tulsa coming in December of 2004 and 2011. The last win for Tulsa came at home on Dec. 4, 2002 with an 80-69 win. Tulsa has a 34-25 series lead in games played at home and is 2-1 in neutral site games, while the Shockers hold a 36-24 advantage in games played in Wichita.

TU is led in scoring by sophomore guard Shaquille Harrison, who is averaging 19.5 points per game, and by sophomore forward Rashad Smith, who averages 19.0 points and 4.5 rebounds through two games. Smith is shooting .765 (13-for-17) from the field, while Harrison shoots .553 (16-of-29) from the field. Sophomore guard James Woodard leads the Hurricane with 7.0 rebounds, and adds 6.0 points per contest.

The Shockers have four players averaging double-figure scoring, led by Cleanthony Early, who averages 15.5 points and 7.0 rebounds. Fred VanVleet scores 12.5 points, Ron Baker scores 11.0 points, and Tekele Cotton adds 10.0 points per game.
