March 9, 2013
Tulsa, Oklahoma - On Monday, March 11 at 7 pm CT, a one-hour documentary telling the story of "Danny and the Miracles" will air on the CBS Sports Network. The film depicts Kansas' 1988 basketball season, featuring current Tulsa Golden Hurricane Head Basketball Coach Danny Manning. That championship marks the last time an unranked, sixth-seeded team with double-digit losses won the tournament in 25 years.
The team, led by Head Coach Larry Brown and Player of the Year Danny Manning, who had returned for his senior campaign, was truly the last Cinderella story in recent memory. In the championship game, Kansas faced top-seeded Oklahoma, to whom they had lost twice in the regular season. Manning led the team with 31 points in the match up giving the Jayhawks an 83-79 victory and the '88 title.
The film was produced by CBS Sports Network in conjunction with Erik Ashel, Tamiko Bullock, Jeffri Chadiha and SportsHistory.com. For a full schedule of future airtimes, check your local cable listings and for more information visit www.cbssportsnetwork.com.
