No. 16 Softball Concludes Regular Season at North Texas

TULSA, Okla. - The 16th-ranked Tulsa softball team plays its regular season finale series at Conference USA foe North Texas Saturday and Sunday at Lovelace Stadium in Denton, Texas.

The Golden Hurricane (46-5, 18-2 C-USA) and the Mean Green (28-20, 12-8 C-USA) play a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. and a single game at 1 p.m. Sunday. TU has won nine games in a row, while North Texas sits in third place in the C-USA standings. Live video and live stats will be available on www.TulsaHurricane.com.

The Hurricane is ranked No. 16 in the latest ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 and No. 18 in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 polls released April 29.

Tulsa hits .342 (468-for-1370) with 289 RBI, 319 runs, 71 doubles, 16 triples and 50 home runs, and has a .526 slugging percentage and a .420 on-base percentage with 169 walks. The Hurricane has a 1.46 team ERA with 390 strikeouts, 127 walks, 213 hits, 92 runs and 69 earned runs allowed, and has a .180 opponent batting average.

Tulsa is led in hitting by senior shortstop Jill Barrett, who has a .467 (85-for-182) batting average with 48 runs scored, seven doubles, 26 RBI, a .599 slugging percentage and a .508 OBP. Freshman third baseman Maggie Withee is hitting .355 (43-for-121) with 26 runs, 12 RBI, three doubles, three triples and a .395 OBP. Freshman DP Jill Roye hits .353 (36-for-102) with 15 runs, 32 RBI, a .569 slugging and a .445 OBP. Senior center fielder Cierra Hughes hits .341 (44-for-129) with 34 runs, five doubles, three triples, five homers, 30 RBI, a .543 slugging percentage and a .456 OBP. Junior first baseman Julie Kernen is hitting .331 (41-for-124) with 39 RBI, 23 runs, 16 doubles, seven home runs, a .629 slugging and a .411 OBP. Junior catcher Erica Sampson hits .327 (49-for-150) with 33 RBI, 41 runs, eight doubles, nine homers, 25 walks, a .560 slugging and a .452 OBP. Senior right fielder Haley Henshaw is hitting .326 (42-for-129) with 32 RBI, 24 runs, seven doubles, six homers, a .535 slugging and a .400 OBP.

In the circle, senior Aimee Creger is 24-1 with a 1.04 ERA in 168.2 innings, and has allowed 75 hits, 30 runs and 25 earned runs, with 287 strikeouts and 80 walks. Junior Bailey Erwin is 12-2 with a 1.34 ERA in 89.0 innings with four saves, and is allowing 78 hits, 28 runs and 17 earned runs with 55 strikeouts and 14 walks. Sophomore Caitlin Sill is 10-2 with a 2.34 ERA in 80.2 innings, allowing 62 hits, 32 runs and 27 earned runs, with 57 strikeouts and 31 walks.

Tulsa and North Texas have played seven times. Tulsa leads the series 5-2. The teams last met in 2012 when the Golden Hurricane claimed 7-2 and 6-1 victories in Tulsa. The teams split in 2008, as the Mean Green won 7-4 and the Hurricane won 6-4. TU won 14-1 in 2007 and 7-2 in 2006. NT won the first meeting between the schools. 4-2, in 2005.
