TULSA, Okla. - Keondre Dew, a 6'8" freshman forward, has enrolled in The University of Tulsa and joined the basketball team, TU Head Coach Frank Haith announced today.
Dew is a native of San Bernardino, Calif. He spent the last two years at Elev8 Sports Institute in Delray Beach, Fla., where he averaged 17 points, nine rebounds and 2.5 assists as a senior, and led the team to the quarterfinals of the Sunshine independent Athletic Association. He also played two years at Impact Basketball Academy in Las Vegas.
"Keondre Dew is a great addition to our basketball program," Haith said. "He is a long forward who works very hard in the gym. He is a great young man, and we look forward to him immediately contributing to our team."
Cody Toppert, head coach at Elev8 said, "Keondre is a great kid and a hard worker. He plays with a tremendous energy and tenacity, and he goes hard every single play. You can always count on him to be locked in for the duration of a game. He is a very talented player with a tremendous upside. He has great size and versatility, which allows him to play and defend multiple positions. He is a great rebounder and has an excellent ability to block shots. He loves to get in extra work and seek out opportunities to get better. He's going to have a great impact."
Dew joins freshmen forward Micah Littlejohn and sophomore transfer Corey Haith as newcomers for the Hurricane in the 2014-15 season. Guard Petar Rusic, who signed with Tulsa in May, did not return to school for the fall semester.
