• Tulsa team captains were senior offensive lineman Garrett Stafford, senior placekicker Carl Salazar, senior defensive end Brentom Todd and junior defensive end Derrick Alexander.
• Senior defensive back DeMarco Nelson made his 43rd start in 44 career games played.
• True freshman defensive tackle Earl Rollins made his first career start.
• The first quarter ended in a 0-0 tie, marking the first time this season that the Tulsa defense has held its opponent scoreless in the opening quarter. It was also the fourth game in which Tulsa did not score in the first quarter.
• At the 13:40 mark of the second quarter, true freshman defensive end Jeremy Smith recorded his second career sack that resulted in a 10-yard loss. It was also Smith's second career tackle.
• At the 6:40 mark of the second quarter, Texas State quarterback Tyler Jones scored on a three-yard run marking the fourth consecutive game that Tulsa's opponent has scored first.
• At the 1:29 mark of the second quarter, sophomore punter Dalton Parks booted a 62-yard punt, which was one yard shy of his career long (63 yards vs. Marshall/November 14, 2013).
• At the 5:56 mark of the third quarter, Carl Salazar kicked his 20th career field goal and moved past Steve Cox (1976-77) for 11th on Tulsa's all-time chart.
• At the 9:56 mark of the fourth quarter, junior wide receiver Connor Floyd scored his third career touchdown and third of the season on a 17-yard pass from sophomore quarterback Dane Evans. It was Evans' 10th career touchdown pass and sixth of the season.
• With 0:10 remaining in the fourth quarter, Dane Evans scored his first rushing touchdown of the season and second career rushing touchdown on a one-yard play.
• At the end of regulation, Tulsa and Texas State were tied 17-17 marking the eighth time that Tulsa has gone into overtime and fifth time Tulsa has gone into overtime at Chapman Stadium.
• In the first overtime, Tulsa took its first lead on a 10-yard pass from Dane Evans to sophomore receiver Keevan Lucas.
• Dane Evans finished 21 of 36 for 234 yards passing marking the fourth time he has surpassed the 200-yard mark in his career and his third best single-game mark.
• Sophomore running back James Flanders finished the game with a career high 112 yards on 21 carries.
• Junior wide receiver Keyarris Garrett finished the game with 117 yards on eight receptions for his third career 100-yard receiving game and first of the season.

• Tulsa is now has an overall 3-5 record in overtime games including a 2-3 mark at Chapman Stadium.
