Softball Picked Second in American Preseason Poll

TULSA, Okla. - The Tulsa softball team was picked to finish second in the American Athletic Conference preseason poll in a vote by the conference head coaches, the league office announced Thursday.
The Golden Hurricane, preparing to play its first softball season as a member of The American, received one first place vote and totaled 29 points in the poll. TU placed five votes behind UCF, which was picked to finish first, with 34 points and five first place votes. USF was picked third and Houston fourth in the poll.
Tulsa is ranked No. 21 USA Today/NFCA Top 25 and No. 22 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 preseason polls. In 2014, TU won the Conference USA regular season and tournament championships, and played in the NCAA Regional, compiling a 53-9 record. The Hurricane returns 11 letterwinners and five starters, while welcoming four freshmen to the squad for 2015.
The Golden Hurricane opens the 2015 season Feb. 6-8 at the GCU Kickoff tournament in Phoenix, Ariz., where it will face Santa Clara, Grand Canyon and Northern Colorado. TU's first home games will be played Feb. 27-March 1 at the Tulsa Invitational.
