Walker Named American Conference Player of the Week

TULSA, Okla. - Tulsa sophomore outfielder Brittany Walker was named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week after hitting .417 with four extra base hits and five RBI last week, the league office announced Monday.
Walker, a native of Mansfield, Texas, went 5-for-12 at the plate, and compiled a 1.083 slugging percentage and a .533 on-base percentage. She homered twice, hit two doubles and scored three runs to lead the Golden Hurricane in a 3-2 week, including an American Conference series sweep of Memphis. She hit a two-run home run in the series opener against the Tigers on Saturday and an RBI double in Sunday's finale. She also went 3-for-3 at North Texas last Monday with a home run and a double, and drove in two runs against Iowa on Wednesday.
This is the first career conference award for Walker, and the fourth American Conference Player of the Week award for Tulsa this season.
The Golden Hurricane (19-10, 3-0 American) plays host to Wichita State at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Collins Family Softball Complex, and travels to Oklahoma State for a 7 p.m. contest Wednesday.
