Softball Plays Series at USF This Weekend

TULSA, Okla. - The Tulsa softball team plays an American Athletic Conference series at USF this weekend, with a doubleheader at 11 a.m. CT Saturday and a single game at 10 a.m. CT Sunday at USF Softball Stadium.
The Golden Hurricane (20-10, 3-0 American) has won four in a row, and is 12-3 in its last 15 games, including a three-game sweep of Memphis last weekend, and a 9-6 midweek win over Wichita State on Tuesday. The Bulls are 28-10 overall, and 0-2 in American play, after dropping both games at Houston last weekend.
Tulsa is led by senior Julie Kernen, who hits .400 with 45 RBI, nine home runs, 11 doubles and 23 runs scored. Senior Erica Sampson hits .375 with 40 runs, 22 RBI and 12 extra base hits. Sophomore Brittany Walker is hitting .442 with 24 RBI, 14 runs, an .846 slugging percentage and 10 extra base hits. Sophomore Maggie Withee hits .326 and has scored 29 runs, and junior Kaitlin Allen hits .324 with seven RBI and nine runs.
In the circle, freshman Emily Watson leads the Hurricane with a 2.20 ERA. She is 5-2 with three shutouts, 50 strikeouts to 16 walks, and has allowed 45 hits and 15 earned runs in 47.2 innings. Senior Bailey Erwin is 10-3 with a 2.95 ERA in 16 appearances and 12 starts. She has 69 strikeouts to 20 walks, and has allowed 83 hits and 33 earned runs in 78.1 innings.
Tulsa and USF have played one time. The Bulls won that meeting, 3-2, in 2004 in Tampa.
