Softball Plays Midweek Home-and-Home vs. Oklahoma State

TULSA, Okla. - The Tulsa softball team will play a midweek home-and-home series against Oklahoma State, beginning with Wednesday's 5 p.m. contest at the Collins Family Softball Complex. The teams will then turn around and play Thursday at 7 p.m. in Stillwater.

The Golden Hurricane (26-15, 8-4 American) is coming off a three-game American Athletic Conference road sweep at East Carolina, while the Cowgirls (19-22, 3-6 Big 12) won two of three games at Iowa State last weekend. Live video of Wednesday's game, and live stats for both games can be found at www.TulsaHurricane.com. Thursday's contest is a makeup of the game originally scheduled for March 25.

Tulsa hits .302 (339-for-1122) with 227 RBI, 251 runs, 61 doubles, 14 triples and 39 home runs, and has a .486 slugging percentage and a .392 on-base percentage with 159 walks. The Hurricane has a 2.80 team ERA with 219 strikeouts, 91 walks, 268 hits, 129 runs and 109 earned runs allowed, and has a .258 opponent batting average.

Oklahoma State is hitting .289 with 221 runs, 190 RBI, 40 doubles, seven triples and 26 home runs, a .413 slugging percentage and a .388 on-base percentage. The Cowgirls have a 4.27 team ERA with 126 strikeouts, 106 walks, 347 hits, 201 runs and 162 earned runs allowed, with a .317 opponent batting average in 265.2 innings.

Six Tulsa players hit better than .300, led by senior Julie Kernen, who hits .362 with 52 RBI, 10 home runs, 14 doubles and 31 runs scored. Sophomore Brittany Walker is hitting .346 with 24 RBI, 20 runs, a .654 slugging percentage and 13 extra base hits. Senior Erica Sampson hits .343 with 48 runs, 27 RBI and 17 extra base hits. Sophomore Maddie Withee hits .326 with 16RBI and 14 runs, sophomore Maggie Withee hits .316 and has scored 34 runs, and junior Kaitlin Allen hits .311 with 11 RBI and 11 runs.

In the circle, freshman Emily Watson leads the Hurricane with a 2.40 ERA. She is 7-3 with three shutouts, 67 strikeouts to 29 walks, and has allowed 66 hits and 25 earned runs in 73.0 innings. Junior Caitlin Sill is 7-9 with a 2.68 ERA, and has thrown 96.2 innings in 21 appearances with 14 starts. She has allowed 43 runs, 37 earned runs on 90 hits, with 62 strikeouts and 38 walks. Senior Bailey Erwin is 12-3 with a 2.88 ERA in 23 appearances and 14 starts. She has 89 strikeouts to 21 walks, and has allowed 107 hits and 41 earned runs in 99.2 innings.

Tulsa and Oklahoma State have met 40 times. Oklahoma State leads the series, 26-14. The Golden Hurricane has won four in a row in the series, including a pair of 1-0 wins last season. TU also won twice in 2013, 5-1 in Tulsa, and 8-2 in Stillwater. The Cowgirls won four straight between 2010-12. TU is 6-8 vs. OSU since 2006.
