John Mabee Memorial Gymnasium became a welcome addition to The University of Tulsa's campus landscape in 1964. Initially, the building provided space for the men's and women's Physical Education classes as well as offices for the athletics staff.
The building was named for John Mabee, an oilman and philanthropist, and measures 85,695 square feet.

Through the years, Mabee Gym has gone through subtle changes and renovations. Currently, the facility serves as home for the Jack Zink Indoor Rowing Center, Golf Indoor driving range and putting area, volleyball practice courts, basketball courts, spirit/dance room and a turf field that services football, soccer and softball teams. The building also houses four racquetball courts for recreational use.
Offices for various athletic department offices, softball, men's and women's soccer, rowing and track & field are also housed in Mabee Gym. The gymnasium is also home for the Golden Hurricane band and University security offices.
