University of Tulsa placekicker Redford Jones was selected as the American Athletic Conference's Special Teams Player of the Week, it was announced today by the conference office.

Jones, a 5'10" junior from Norman North High School in Norman, Okla., scored 10 points, including two crucial fourth-quarter field goals, in Tulsa's 40-37 overtime win against Cincinnati as the Golden Hurricane overcame a 10-point deficit in the final 15 minutes.

Jones hit a 24-yard field goal early in the fourth period to bring Tulsa within seven, and he hit a 22-yard field goal as time expired in regulation to force overtime. Jones is the leading scorer among American Athletic Conference kickers with 117 points and is second for field goals (1.58 pg) and field goal percentage (79.2) in 2016.

It's the fourth time this season that a Tulsa player has earned a Player of the Week award by the American Athletic Conference. Previous winners this season for Tulsa have included linebacker Trent Martin (Sept. 3), safety Jeremy Brady (Sept. 26) and running back James Flanders (Oct. 31).
