PEORIA, Ill. — The University of Tulsa men's and women's cross country teams finished third and eighth, respectively, at the NCAA Midwest Regional, held at the Newman Golf Course on Friday.

With snow on the ground, temperatures in the low 30s and a wind chill in the 20s, the Golden Hurricane men had a team score of 107 to finish just behind Iowa State (38) and host Bradley (102), while the women posted a score of 223.

Peter Lynch, Scott Beattie and Caitlin Klopfer all earned all-region honors by placing in the top 25. While the teams did not earn an automatic bid to next week's NCAA Championships in Madison, Wis., the men have a good chance to grab an at-large bid with their American Athletic Conference title, third-place showing at the NCAA Midwest Regional and a CCRI (Cross Country Rating Index) of 40.

The official word will come at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, during the NCAA Selection Show, which will be streamed online at NCAA.com.

Lynch led the Hurricane men with a ninth-place finish in the 10K race with a time of 31:08.2, while Beattie crossed the line in 17th place at 31:20.4. The duo was followed by Ryan Riddle (26th, 31:29.4), Cameron Field (27th, 31:40.1), Adam Breaux (28th, 31:41.0), Isaac Akers (32nd, 31:46.7) and Austin Del Rosso (43rd, 32:03.2).

For the third straight race it was Klopfer who led the way for the women's team, as she picked up All-Region honors with a 13th-place finish. The sophomore, who also was an all-conference honoree, crossed the finish line with a personal-best 6K time of 20:55.8.

Klopfer was one of five runners to log the best 6K time of the season in the meet, along with Ashley Barnes (35th, 21:24.4), Jenny O'Bryan (51st, 21:35.1), Alyssa Bolliger (63rd, 21:40.8) and Alice Newcombe (80th, 21:52.2). Reagan Hausmann (75th, 21:49.5) and Caroline Miller (98th, 22:03.9) rounded out the lineup for the Hurricane.
