Tulsa Football to Host Oklahoma in 2023 as Part of New 3-Game Series

TULSA, Okla. –– The Universities of Tulsa and Oklahoma unveiled today a new 3-year football scheduling agreement, Tulsa's Vice President & Director of Athletics Dr. Derrick Gragg announced. The Sooners will travel to Tulsa's H.A. Chapman Stadium for the first of those three games.

Tulsa will host Oklahoma on September 16, 2023, while the Golden Hurricane will make trips to Norman on August 31, 2030 and Sept. 3, 2033.

"We're extremely excited to announce this new series with Oklahoma. When you have an opportunity to play one of the nation's perennial powers in your home stadium and a school that garners a lot of attention in this part of the state, it's a win-win for everyone," said Gragg. "I'm thankful to Joe Castiglione for helping bring this game back to Tulsa."

The two schools have played 28 times in the past, including 13 times when Oklahoma has been ranked among the nation's top-20 teams. OU holds a 20-7-1 series advantage. The 2023 game will be the 11^th time that the Sooners have played in Tulsa and the first since 2014. Other games played in Tulsa came in 1914, 1915, 1931, 1933, 1937, 1942, 1987, 2002 and 2007.

With the addition of Oklahoma to the schedule, Tulsa, the nation's smallest FBS school by undergraduate enrollment (3,297), will host six games in an eight-year span against Power 6 schools. Starting with the Sooners in 2023, Tulsa will also host contests against Oklahoma State in 2024, 2026, 2028 and 2030 and with Arkansas in 2027.

"Scheduling home games with Power 6 opponents is important to our football program, the university and the city of Tulsa, as well as the American Athletic Conference," said Gragg. "We pinpointed these three schools as being important elements of future home schedules. The atmosphere that surrounds these games will be electric for our campus and the community."
