Box Score | Season Stats

TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa completed a three-game American Athletic Conference series sweep of visiting UCF, 6-0, on Saturday behind a 10-strikeout performance from Samantha Pochop and a grand slam by Alexis Perry.

Pochop improved to 10-6 on the season and recorded her third double-digit strikeout game of the season for the Golden Hurricane (31-15, 12-3). Meanwhile, Perry went 3-for-3 and was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle to go along with a season-high four RBIs on her grand slam.

Julia Hollingsworth also drove in a pair for TU, which picked up its second conference series sweep of the spring.

Cassady Brewer had two of the three hits for the Knights (28-17, 7-8). Alea White fell to 20-12 in the circle after she gave up two runs on three hits in just two innings.

After two scoreless innings, the Hurricane broke through with a pair of runs against White in the bottom of the third.

Perry started the frame with a double to right field and moved to third on Mikayla Whitten's single. The speedy Whitten was able to reach second on the play after the UCF defense made a throw to the plate. That brought up Hollingsworth, who delivered a two-run single that gave Tulsa an early cushion.

UCF reliever Ashley Stephenson came in and limited the damage to just the two runs, but lost her control in the bottom of the sixth.

She walked the first three batters of the inning to load the bases for Perry, who launched her second homer of the season over the wall in left for a grand slam and 6-0 lead.

The offense was more than enough for Pochop, who cruised through the UCF lineup. After an error and single to start the game, the sophomore did not allow more than one baserunner in an inning the rest of the way.

Pochop struck out the side in the third inning and did not allow a runner past second base during the contest.

Tulsa will return to the diamond on Friday, April 26 when it will host Wichita State (28-20, 9-6) at 7 p.m. at Collins Family Softball Complex. The game will be the first of a three-game set with the Shockers and will be broadcast to a national audience on ESPNU.
