Tulsa Women’s Soccer Team Drops 5-1 Decision to Missouri State

The Tulsa women's soccer team dropped a 5-1 decision to Missouri State on Friday night at the Betty and Bobby Allison South Stadium in Springfield, Mo.  TU fell to 4-2 on the season, while the MSU moved to 4-1-1 overall.

"It was a tough loss," Head Coach Kyle Cussen said.  "We did some good things.  We were good going forward, we created some good chances, we out-shot them and had more corner kicks.  When we went down 3-1, we changed our formation to allow us to get numbers forward to try to create an opportunity for us to get back into the game, but they capitalized on our fewer numbers in the backfield for their final two goals."

The two teams battled for over 54 minutes without a score, but Averee Dubach put Tulsa on the board at the 54:24 mark.  Jordan Eickelman evened the score in the 63rd minute off an assist from Britney Robinson, and then Unnur Bergsdottir gave the Bears the go-ahead goal in the 66th minute.  Lauren Fisher added a score for Missouri State at the 75:49 mark, while Kennady Orlick registered goals in the 80th and 83rd minutes for the final score.

Tulsa had a 14-12 lead in shots, while MSU had a narrow 8-7 advantage in shots on goal, and TU had an 8-4 lead in corner kicks.

Audrey Lechlider had a team-best three shots, all of which were on goal, while Addyson Guthrie and Kayla Fernandez both added two attempts.  Seven other Hurricane players had one shot on the night.  Jazmiera Ditter logged all 90 minutes in goal and picked up three saves.

Tulsa will return to action on Sunday, September 15 against Kansas State.  Game time is set for 1:00 pm in Manhattan, Kan.  The game will air on the Big 12 Now and ESPN+.
