NEW YORK, NY –– Following Tulsa's 28-24 win over SMU Saturday night the Golden Hurricane moved into 25th place on the Associated Press' top-25 rankings, it was released on Sunday.
The ranking for Tulsa is the first in the AP poll since ending the 2010 season ranked 24th nationally. Before that, Tulsa was ranked in the AP poll for three weeks during the 2008 campaign. In addition, Tulsa did end the 2012 season ranked 25th in the USA Today Coaches poll.
On Saturday, the Hurricane came back from a 21-point first-half deficit to hand the Mustangs, ranked 19th in the AP poll, only its second loss of the season.
Tulsa has now accomplished a feat never before done in school history by defeating two top-25 teams in the same season. Earlier this year, Tulsa went to Orlando, Fla., and came back from 18 points down for a 34-26 win over the 11th-ranked UCF Knights.
The Hurricane has only 4 days to prepare for a Thursday night home game against the Tulane Green Wave. The contest will kick-off at 6:30 p.m. (CT) from H.A. Chapman Stadium and aired on ESPN.
Tulsa-Tulane game tickets are available by going online at TulsaHurricane.com or calling 918.631.GoTU (4688).
