AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS
• Tulsa shared the American Athletic Conference regular season title with Cincinnati and Houston.
• Tulsa has now won or shared 11 league titles in school history with 10 coming in the last 36 seasons.
• This is the first AAC title for Tulsa in its 6 years as a league member …Tulsa has placed among the top-4 in the AAC regular season in 4 seasons, including 2nd in 2014-15, 3rd in 2015-16 and 4th place in 2017-18.
• Tulsa has now won a league championship in 4 leagues – Missouri Valley (6), Western Athletic (3), Conference USA (1) and the American Athletic (1).
20+ WINS
• Tulsa has turned in its 3rd 20+ win season in Frank Haith's 6 years at the helm of the basketball program.
• In school history, the 21 wins gives Tulsa 24 seasons of 20+ wins, with 23 of those coming in the last 39 seasons.
• Before NCAA or NIT play began in previous years, Tulsa had won 20+ games 23 times and had received an invitation to the NCAA or NIT Championships in all but two years, including in 2006-07 with a 20-11 record and in 2007-08 when Tulsa finished at 25-14 with 5 of those wins coming en route to winning the CBI Championship.
HAITH NAMED AAC COACH OF THE YEAR, JOINING SOME BIG NAMES IN TULSA HISTORY
• Frank Haith earned the Coach of the Year award in the American Athletic Conference this season after taking his team from a preseason coaches' poll placing of 10th to sharing the AAC title with a 13-5 league record.
• It is the second conference that Haith has won the coach of the year award as he was named the 2012 AP Big XII Coach of the Year.
• It marked the 11th time that a Tulsa coach has earned Conference Coach of the Year accolades, becoming the 9th coach to do so.
• Haith has joined some pretty big names of past Tulsa coaches to win the yearly honor.
• Other winners were: Clarence Iba (1955), Joe Swank (1967), Ken Hayes (1973), Nolan Richardson, 1981, '85), J.D. Barnett (1987) and Tubby Smith (1993-94) as MVC Coach of the Year winners … Bill Self (2000) was the WAC Coach of the Year … Danny Manning won the Conference USA Coach of the Year award (2014).
• Manning was the last Tulsa coach to win coach of the year honors with his Conference USA award in 2014.
IGBANU NAMED SIXTH MAN OF THE YEAR IN THE AMERICAN
• Martins Igbanu began coming off the bench in the AAC opener against Temple and since that game, when he totaled 14 points and 6 rebounds, he played the role of Tulsa's sixth man in the 17 games to follow.
• In the last 18 games, he has had 13 games scoring in double-digits, including 6 contests with 20 or more points … he has had 3 double-doubles and 4 double-figure rebounding games.
• Igbanu has averaged 16.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 61-percent shooting from the field and 70-percent from the free throw line off the bench in the last 18 games.
• He is the third Tulsa player to earn the Sixth Man of the Year award in school history … Anthony Price (2006) and Steven Idlet (2010) each won the award in Conference USA.
IGBANU, RACHAL NAMED ALL-CONFERENCE
• Two Tulsa players earned all-conference accolades in the American Athletic Conference this year.
• Martins Igbanu was a first-team selection and Brandon Rachal earned third-team honors as the AAC postseason awards were announced.
• Igbanu led Tulsa in scoring with a 13.6 average, while also leading the team in FG percentage at .561 … Igbanu grabbed 5.0 rebounds to rank third on the team.
• Rachal was second in scoring with a 12.1 average, while leading Tulsa in rebounds at an average of 5.8 per game and steals at 1.5 per game.
TULSA IN CONFERENCE TOURNAMENTS
• Tulsa will be playing in its 43rd overall conference tournament in its 4th league.
• Tulsa won tournament titles in its final season (1996) as a member of the Missouri Valley Conference and its final season (2014) as a member of Conference USA.
