TULSA, Okla. –– Tulsa Athletics has remained in regular communication with university and American Athletic Conference leadership to monitor developments related to the coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19). In response to Tuesday's decision to move classes online, TU Athletics has canceled or postponed remaining on-campus athletic events scheduled for this week.
Events affected include tonight's men's tennis match against Oklahoma and softball game vs. Western Illinois. The OU match is expected to be rescheduled, while the softball game will not be played. Thursday's spring football practice will be canceled. Saturday's women's tennis match against Wichita State will not be played on campus, but has the possibility of being played at an alternate site. Tulsa is on spring break following this Friday's classes.
Tulsa athletic teams will follow the university's travel guidelines, which at this time allow for travel to road competitions as originally scheduled.
Developments surrounding COVID-19 will continue to be monitored and postponement or cancellation of future athletic events will be decided as the situation warrants. Updates will be posted as they become available on TulsaHurricane.com, as well as on our Twitter (@TulsaHurricane).
