AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE SUSPENDS SPRING COMPETITION
On Thursday, March 12 (following cancellation of the AAC Men's Basketball Championship earlier in the day) Commissioner Mike Aresco has announced that, effective immediately, the American Athletic Conference will suspend all spring sports competition until further notice. The decision to suspend competition was made after consultation with member institutions as part of a continued effort to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus and to protect student-athletes, coaches, institutional and event staff, media and spectators. The Conference will continue to evaluate risks associated with intercollegiate athletics competition in conjunction with local and state health authorities.

NCAA CANCELS WINTER AND SPRING CHAMPIONSHIPS
On Thursday, March 12, NCAA President Mark Emmert and the Board of Governors canceled the Division I men's and women's 2020 basketball tournaments, as well as all remaining winter and spring NCAA championships. This decision is based on the evolving COVID-19 public health threat, our ability to ensure the events do not contribute to spread of the pandemic, and the impracticality of hosting such events at any time during this academic year given ongoing decisions by other entities.

STATEMENT FROM TULSA VP & DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS DR. DERRICK GRAGG
The University of Tulsa athletics fully supports the American Athletic Conference decision to suspend all spring sports competition. It is our highest priority at Tulsa to ensure the safety, health and well-being of our student-athletes, coaches, staff and fans. Although daunting, the measure is prudent and responsible as college athletics perseveres through this virus.
