
TULSA MADNESS FINAL FOUR SET FOR MONDAY

TULSA, Okla. –– Three No. 1 seeds and one No.2 seed have advanced to the 'Tulsa Madness' Final Four, as the fans' vote to decide on the best team in Tulsa basketball history. The voting has taken place on Tulsa's social media accounts the last three weeks and has now come down to the final four teams.
The (No. 2-seed) 1980-81 team will square-off against the (No.1) 1993-94 squad in the first Final Four contest, while two Number 1-seeds, the 1999-2000 and the 2015-16 teams will face each other in the other semifinal matchup.
Final Four voting will begin on Monday, April 6 at 9:00 a.m. with the title of 'Tulsa Madness' Champions to be voted on Tuesday, April 7. Vote for your favorite on Twitter at TUMBasketball.
The latest to advance to the Final Four included the 1999-2000 and 2015-16 squads who won their respective quadrants last week.
The 2015-16 NCAA Tournament team, which featured Shaquille Harrison and James Woodard, took out the 2014-15 squad with ease taking 66% of the vote. In the Elite Eight game they faced the reigning American Athletic Conference Champs, the 2019-20 team. The voting was neck-and-neck until a late push by the 2015-16 squad gave them a 54 to 46-percent victory.
The NCAA Elite Eight team of 1999-00 dominated the 2000s quadrant, taking on the 2007-08 squad in the first round. With the largest margin of victory so far in the tournament, the 1999-00 team captured 81-percent of the votes. The No. 1 seeded '99-00 squad then faced off against the NIT Champion 2001-02 team in the Elite Eight matchup. The top team made easy work of the champions defeating them with 75-percent of the vote.
In the 90s quadrant of 'Tulsa Madness' the top ranked, NCAA "Sweet Sixteen" 1993-94 team was victorious knocking out the 1994-95 team in the "Elite Eight" matchup, grabbing 58-percent of the Twitter votes.
In first round games, the No. 2 1994-95 team advanced over the 1996-97 squad garnishing 61-percent of the votes. The top seeded 1993-94 team was locked in a battle with the 4th ranked 1998-99 team; going down to the wire, the top team squeaked out a victory with 51-percent of the Twitter votes.
Both top seeds featured NCAA "Sweet Sixteen" teams and all-time Hurricane leading scorer and current TU assistant coach Shea Seals. They were also both coached by legendary head coach Tubby Smith.
The Tulsa Madness "Elite Eight" matchup came between the No. 1 seeded 1983-84 Golden Hurricane team and the No. 2-seeded 1980-81 squad. The contest ended in an upset with the '80-81 NIT Championship team securing 66% of the Twitter votes to take down Richardson's fourth Tulsa team.
Both teams had opening round wins with the '83-84 team taking on the 1981-82 squad. The No. 1 seed took the matchup raking in 68% of the votes. Squaring off in the second matchup of the opening day of Tulsa Madness, the No. 2-seeded 1980-81 team took on the 1984-85 squad grabbing 67% of the votes and the win. All of the 1980 quadrant teams were coached by Richardson.
