
The 1999-2000 Golden Hurricane Crowned Tulsa Madness Champions

TULSA, Okla. – The 1999-00 Tulsa Golden Hurricane basketball team captures the title of Tulsa Madness Champions after taking out the 1993-94 squad in the championship game.
The No. 1 seeded, NCAA "Elite Eight" team took it to the #1 seed out of the 90s quadrant building a 70-percent to 30-percent lead in the first 12 hours. The team was led by legendary head coach Bill Self and leading scorer, 6th man David Shelton. Shelton averaged 14.1 points a game playing in all 37 games of the "Elite Eight" season.
The Hurricane used the three-headed monster in the starting lineup of Eric Coley, Brandon Kurtz and Marcus Hill with the three averaging 33.7 points a game. Greg Harrington and Tony Heard rounded out the starting lineup, as the group started 35 of 37 games during the 1999-00 season.
The NCAA Elite Eight team of 1999-00 dominated the 2000s quadrant, taking on the 2007-08 squad in the first round. With the largest margin of victory so far in the tournament, the 1999-00 team captured 81-percent of the votes. The '99-00 squad then faced off against the NIT Champion 2001-02 team in the Elite Eight matchup. The top team made easy work of the champions defeating them with 75-percent of the vote.
The 1993-94 team falls in the championship after defeating the 1980-81 team in the semifinal matchup 70-30-percent. The 1999-00 team took down the 2015-16 squad in a close matchup 59-41-percent in their semifinal game.
