THE STORYLINES . . .
• Tulsa is in its 125th season of Tulsa football.
• Tulsa has the smallest FBS enrollment with 2,929 undergraduate students (based off 2020-21 statistics) … Tulsa's overall enrollment is 3,961 … Temple's enrollment is 41,000.
• A total of 23 Tulsa seniors will be playing in their final home game.
• Against common opponents this year, Tulsa has a 2-2 record with wins over Memphis and USF and losses against Houston and Cincinnati … Temple is 1-3 with its lone win over Memphis.
• These two teams haven't played each other the previous two seasons … the last time they met was in Philadephia in the 2018 season.
THE SERIES . . .
• This is the sixth meeting between Tulsa and Temple … the Owls lead the series 3-2.
• The series is tied in Tulsa 1-1 … Tulsa won the first meeting at home in 1988 by a score of 15-10, while Temple won the last time visiting T-Town, 43-22, in 2017.
• Tulsa won the first two meetings in the series, while Temple has won the last three matchups.
• The first meeting came in 1987 when Tulsa went into Philadelphia and grabbed a 24-17 win.
TULSA GOES TO OT FOR WIN . . .
• For the second straight season, Tulsa went to overtime to defeat the Tulane Green Wave 20-13 … this year, Shamari Brooks scored on a 15-yard run on Tulsa's first possession and the Hurricane defense held Tulane on their first OT possession.
• Tulsa improved to 11-6 in overtime in school history and improved to 3-0 over Tulane in OT.
• Philip Montgomery's career record improved to 6-1 in overtime.
QUICK HITS . . .
• Tulsa has six players who have played in 50 career games – Robert Revels III (57), Adam Higuera (55), Tyarise Stevenson (53), Cristian Williams (53), Tiller Bucktrot (51) and Treyvon Reeves (50).
• The Tulsa defense had six 3-and-outs last week against the Tulane offense … two Tulane drives in the final quarter totaled 154 yards in 11 plays … In Tulane's 13 other drives, the Tulsa defense held the Green Wave offense to 154 yards on 52 plays for a 2.9 average per play.

• Shamari Brooks is 24 yards shy of moving into fourth place on the school's career rushing chart … he now has 3,491 career yards and 29 career TDs.
BROOKS NEARING NO. 4 ON CAREER RUSHING LIST . . .
• Running back Shamari Brooks, who missed the 2020 season with an ACL injury, became just the fifth player in school history to surpass 3,000 career rushing yards.
• He reached the 3,000-yard mark on his third carry against Memphis (10/9) and now has totaled 3,491 yards on 738 career attempts in 42 career games.
• Brooks is now 24 yards shy of moving into a 4th place tie with Trey Watts (2010-13 –– 3,515 yards) on the school's all-time rushing chart.
• The senior from Tulsa's Union High School came into the 2021 season ranked 5th on the school's career rushing list with 2,700 yards.
• Brooks had his 16th career 100+ rushing game with 132 yards on 25 carries at Cincinnati. … he also added 145 yards on 23 carries at South Florida, 126 yards on 26 carries against Memphis and 155 yards on 22 carries against Arkansas State.
• He has scored six rushing TDs this season to give him 29 career touchdowns … he is now in 5th place on the school's career list for rushing TDs, and one shy of moving into 4th place.
MISLEADING STAT . . .
• Statistically, Tulsa ranks 84th nationally for points allowed, giving up 28.8 points per game.
• A closer look at the stats show that Tulsa's defense has allowed 4.9 points less at 23.9 points (239) per game.
• Tulsa opponents have scored four times on special teams for 28 points and three times on defense for another 21 points for a total of 49 points.
• Without the defensive and special teams scores, the 23.9 points allowed per game would rank Tulsa 54th nationally.
TULSA HAS TWO MAYO CLINIC COMEBACK POY CANDIDATES WITH YOHANCE BURNETT AND SHAMARI
BROOKS . . .
• Tulsa senior linebacker Yohance Burnett and senior running back Shamari Brooks are nominees for the Mayo Clinic Comeback Player of the Year Award
• Burnett has suffered two ACL injuries since joining the Tulsa football team from Navarro Junior College in 2018.
• He suffered his first ACL injury to his right knee during the 2018 preseason camp … last year in preseason camp, Burnett tore his left ACL forcing him to miss his second season in three years.
• Brooks suffered an ACL injury the week prior to the 2020 season opener.
• Ten times during the 2021 college football season, three inspiring student-athletes from all levels of college football who have overcome injury, illness, or other challenges, will be recognized as Mayo Clinic Comeback Player of the Year Nominees.
THE WRIGHT CHOICE . . .
• Junior linebacker Justin Wright shared the team-lead in tackles with 63, despite missing the season opener.
* Over the last 5 games, Wright has totaled 47 tackles, 5.5 TFL for -20 yards, 3.5 sacks for -16 yards, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one QB hurry.
• Against Tulane, Wright totaled 12 tackles, including 10 solos, and had one TFL for -3 yards.
• In a 32-31 win at South Florida, Wright had a team-high 7 tackles, 2.5 TFL for -9 yards and one QB hurry … he was named the AAC's Defensive Player of the Week for his performance.
• Against Memphis, Wright had a career-high 14 tackles, while adding two TFL for eight yards, one sack for -7 yards and one forced fumble.
• Wright has been in the starting lineup since last year for 19 games and has tallied 125 tackles in those starts … he has also totaled 14.5 TFL for -43 yards in those 19 starts.
• Earlier this year, Wright had his first career interception, a 55-yard TD return against Oklahoma State.
