TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa women's soccer team dropped an American Athletic Conference match by a score of 2-0 to the Temple Owls Sunday afternoon at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. The Golden Hurricane fell to 1-5 on the season, while the Owls moved to 4-4-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the league.

It was chippy contest between the two teams as there were 25 fouls called, including 17 by the Owls. Temple took only three shots on goal and scored on two of those, with the goals coming in each half.

"We felt like if we created some opportunities, we'd have chances to score. Early on in the game, we created a couple really good chances and we were just a little bit off the mark. This is the first time all year we out-shot the opponent and had more corner kicks, so some of the things we were trying to do we saw happen on the field today, but we were unfortunate with the result," said Tulsa Head Coach Kyle Cussen.

Roisin McGovern gave the Owls the only goal they would actually need in the game, coming at the 25^th minute mark (24:56) when the Temple freshman scored from three yards out on an assist from Gabriela Johnson. The Hurricane put pressure on the Temple goalkeeper in the first half with seven shots, including three on goal, while the Owls had only three shots.

Temple appeared to have gone ahead 2-0 in the second half with just over 28 minutes remaining in the contest, but Emily Kavanaugh's goal was waved off due to an offsides call. The Owls did get that second goal at the 65:09 mark when Emma Wilkins had an open look at the goal 12 yards on an assist from Lexy Endres.

The game ended with Tulsa taking 14 shots to Temple's seven, including a 4-3 advantage for shots on goal for the Hurricane.

Tulsa will return to action on Saturday, April 3 against ECU beginning at 4:00 pm (CT) in Greenville, N.C.
