Tulsa Announces 2022 Spring Football Dates

TULSA, Okla. –– The Tulsa Golden Hurricane football team will open 2022 Spring Practice on Tuesday, March 1.

"We're always excited to get on the field with our young men. They've worked extremely hard during winter conditioning, so now we're looking forward to getting on field with them in the spring and start developing what our team will be for next season," said Tulsa Head Coach Philip Montgomery.

The March 1 opening of spring football is the first of the 15 scheduled spring practice dates slated for two weeks before and three weeks after the school's Spring Break. Spring Drills will conclude with the Annual Spring Game on Saturday morning, April 9, as a part of TU Athletics Hall of Fame Weekend.

The first five practices will take place before spring break. The final workout before Spring Break (March 15-20) will be on Thursday, March 10, which is also the scheduled day for NFL Pro Day for the 2022 NFL Draft eligible players

The Hurricane will return to the practice field on Tuesday, March 22 for the final three weeks of spring practice before ending with the Spring Game.

Tulsa is coming off a 7-6 campaign that saw the Hurricane place third in the American Athletic Conference standings and win the 2021 Myrtle Beach Bowl. Of the six losses, four were to teams that finished the season ranked among the Associated Press' top-20, including No. 4 Cincinnati, No. 6 Ohio State, No. 7 Oklahoma State and No. 17 Houston.

Tulsa returns 41 letterwinners but will have to replace 14 starters for the upcoming season. Returning in 2022 after missing most of the season with injury will be starters Keylon Stokes at receiver and safety Kendarin Ray.

"We had a bunch of seniors that moved on. We have some young guys who have received playing experience, but we'll be much younger this year. Spring ball, every year, is important but this year it's going to be vital for our development," added Montgomery.
