Tulsa Softball Hosts UCA Tuesday

GAME NOTES

TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa Golden Hurricane hosts the UCA Bears on Tuesday for a 5 p.m. game at the Collins Family Softball Complex before heading to west Texas for the four-game Texas Tech Invitational in Lubbock, Texas.

UCA comes into the Tuesday's game with a 10-7 overall record and a five-game winning streak while also capturing seven wins in its last eight contests. Among its victories, the Bears have defeated No. 14-ranked LSU, Georgia Tech of the ACC and SEC foe Mississippi State.

The young Hurricane team sits at 6-11 on the season after taking Minnesota and Stanford, both receiving votes in the national poll, to one run over the weekend. Tulsa's Haley Morgan has team-highs with a .392 batting average and 20 hits, while freshman Celeste Wood bats .333 with team-highs of 19 RBI, seven doubles and three triples. She had game-winning hits earlier this season against UAB and Louisiana Tech.

On the mound, senior Samantha Pochop leads a group of four hurlers with a 3.38 ERA and 57 strikeouts.

In weekend action, Tulsa will start play against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 11 a.m. Saturday, followed by a 1:30 p.m. matchup against host Texas Tech. On Sunday, the Islanders will be first up again for Tulsa at 10 a.m. followed by the Red Raiders at 3 p.m.

Texas A&M-CC has a 10-12 overall record after coming off a split at Baylor over the weekend. The Red Raiders are 8-12 on the year with six of those losses against top-25 teams.
