Graduation Highlights Successful Athletic Year for Golden Hurricane

TULSA, Okla. –– More than 50 senior student-athletes crossed the stage to get their diplomas on Saturday morning during The University of Tulsa's commencement ceremonies at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
Graduation culminated a successful athletics season for the Golden Hurricane which started in October when Tulsa's men's and women's cross-country teams swept the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Championships for the third consecutive season. The men finished the season ranked sixth in the USTFCCCA Cross Country national rankings after placing sixth at the NCAA Championship.
The men's soccer team tied its highest national ranking of second in the country en route to winning The American regular season and tournament titles and advancing to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament, finishing the season with a 16-2-1 overall record and among the top-5 nationally in the three national soccer polls.
The Golden Hurricane football team closed out the season with four straight wins for an overall 7-6 record after dropping four of its first nine games to opponents that finished the season ranked among the nation's top-17, including three in the top-10.
Tulsa claimed a 30-17 victory over Old Dominion in the Myrtle Beach Bowl to close out the 2021 campaign.
The Tulsa women's basketball team posted an overall 17-11 record for its most wins in eight seasons. The Hurricane opened the season with a 10-0 start for the longest winning streak in school history and ended the year in the second round of the WNIT.
For the track & field season, the Hurricane women finished third and the men fourth at the AAC Indoor Championship, while the teams flipped positions at the conference outdoor meet – third place for the men and fourth place for the women.
The women's tennis team advanced to the finals of The American Championship and ended the season with a 17-8 record, while the Hurricane men advanced to the NCAA Championship for the 19th time in the last 27 years.
