Tulsa’s Brin Named AAC Offensive Player of the Week; Powers Named to Honor Roll

IRVING, Texas –– Tulsa quarterback Davis Brin was named the American Athletic Conference's Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced today. Nickel safety Bryson Powers was named to the AAC's weekly honor roll.

Brin, a 6'2" senior from Boerne, Texas, connected on back-to-back passes for 55 yards with under two minutes to go to set up the game-winning touchdown in Tulsa's 38-35 victory over Northern Illinois Saturday night.

Brin finished the game with 322 yards and a career-high four touchdowns on 19-of-32 passing. His TD passes covered 14, 25, 20 and one yard. His one-yard TD pass came on 4^th-and-goal to put Tulsa back ahead 31-28 in the 4^th quarter.

In NCAA stats this week, Brin ranks 1st for passing yards per game (391.0), 4th for total offense (388.5), 4th for passing yards (782), 5th for passing TDs (7), 8th for passing yards per completion (15.9), 13th for points responsible for (42) and 15th for completions per game (24.5).

Powers had a game-high 13 tackles, six solos and seven assists. His stop on a 3^rd-and-6 in the first quarter forced NIU to kick a field goal that missed preserving Tula's 7-0 lead. Under 4 minutes in the game and Tulsa trailing 35-31, Powers had stops on 1^st and 2^nd downs that helped Tulsa get the ball back as NIU went 4-and-out, thus leading to Tulsa's game-winning touchdown.

Tulsa hosts the Jacksonville State Gamecocks this Saturday at H.A. Chapman Stadium. Kickoff is 6 p.m. On '918 Day' the first 2,500 fans will receive a FREE City of Tulsa Flag refrigerator magnet.
