TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa Softball team announced its 2024 schedule on Tuesday afternoon. The Schedule features three games against in-state opponents who made the College World Series, and 18 games at the Collins Family Softball Complex.
"Our schedule is filled with competitive nonconference games and tough American Athletic Conference play," Tulsa head coach Crissy Strimple said. "We have four weekends to prepare us for our conference, which I believe will be a top-five competitive league in softball. We start with trips to Texas A&M, Texas State and UNLV, which adds a good slate of games before opening with our Tulsa tournament. Our fans can look forward to some competitive midweek games that will keep us sharp between conference opponents."
The Golden Hurricane begins its season in College Station for the Aggie Classic, playing five games over three days from Feb. 9-11. TU will open the season with a pair of games against Valparaiso and Lehigh. Another game against Valpo kicks off the second day before Tulsa closes with two games against hosts Texas A&M.
Tulsa stays in Texas the following week for the TXST Tournament from Feb. 16-18. The Hurricane will face Northern Colorado, Texas Tech and Sam Houston, with two games against Texas State.
Next, the team will head west to Las Vegas for the Desert Classic from Feb. 23 – 25. Over the three days, the Hurricane will face Southern Utah and UNLV twice, as well as taking on Santa Clara.
Liberty and Tulsa will meet in Norman, Okla. for a neutral site game to open March.
The Hurricane play in the Collins Family Softball Complex for the first time on March 2, as TU starts the OSU/Tulsa invite. Tulsa will host Seattle, Drake, Miami (Ohio) and Kansas City over the two-day event.
American Athletic Conference play begins on the road with a trip to Memphis from March 8-10.
Tulsa hosts Big XII opponent Iowa State on March 12 to start a six-game homestand before welcoming South Florida for the home conference opener from March 15-17.
The homestand continues with back-to-back evening games with Oklahoma State on March 19 and Central Arkansas on the 20th. OSU is fresh off a second straight Women's College World Series appearance.
The following two weeks has Tulsa taking on new conference opponents. First is a trip south to Denton, Texas for a showdown with North Texas from March 22-24. Then, TU hosts UAB at the Collins Family Softball Complex on March 28-30.
A midweek showdown with Missouri State on April 3 prepares the Hurricane for a trip to Wichita, Kan. to face the Shockers over the weekend on April 5-7.
The return game with Oklahoma State is scheduled for April 10 in Stillwater. Then, Tulsa welcomes East Carolina on the 12th, 13th and 14th.
An exciting matchup with the back-to-back-to-back NCAA Champion Oklahoma Sooners awaits on April 16. The game will be played in Oklahoma City on the OGE Energy Field at the USA Hall of Fame Stadium, which hosts the Women's College World Series.
The Hurricane closes the regular season with three straight conference matchups against new league members. First is a road trip to North Carolina to face Charlotte from April 19-21.
Then, TU welcomes UTSA for the final home series of the season from April 26-28.
A trip to Boca Raton, Fla. wraps the season for Tulsa as the Hurricane faces FAU on May 3-5. The American Athletic Conference Championship will be held on the campus of Wichita State from May 8-11.
"Our team prepared well in the fall season with a lot of familiar faces on the roster and some key additions to our squad," Strimple said. "I can't wait to return to the practice field and start preparing for an exciting 2024 season."
