Junior pitcher Kylee Nash named to honor roll
TULSA, OKLA. –– The University of Tulsa softball's Imani Edwards was named the American Athletic Conference Softball's Player of the Week, as announced today by the league office this afternoon. Junior pitcher Kylee Nash was named to the honor roll for her performance as well.
Edwards recorded a .400 average with four hits, including a home run, and five RBI over the weekend against Houston. She drove in a pair of game winning runs on Friday and Saturday. Her single in the first on Friday brought in Haley Morgan in the 7-0 win, and then her grand slam in the third inning Saturday proved the difference in Tulsa's 4-2 series clincher. She also drew a pair of walks and scored three runs.
The junior shortstop is slashing .390/.447/.515 with three doubles, four triples, a pair of home runs, 18 RBI and 23 runs scored on the season. Her on-base percentage tops the team and she's second to Morgan with her batting average and runs. After the past weekend, Edwards has a seven-game hitting streak, which is her second longest of the season, and has reach based safely in a season-best 16-consecutive contests.
Nash recorded a pair of wins over the weekend. She tossed her fifth complete game of the season on Saturday and then came on in relief in the sixth inning of Sunday's comeback. In 8.1 innings of work, the junior allowed just three hits and two runs while striking out nine, earning her place on the league's honor roll.
Edwards, Nash and the Golden Hurricane are back in action Wednesday as Tulsa hosts the top-ranked Oklahoma Sooners in front of a sold-out crowd in the Collins Family Softball Complex. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. and the game will air on ESPN+.
