TULSA, Okla. –– The University of Tulsa basketball program added TCU transfer PJ Haggerty to the 2023-24 roster, head coach Eric Konkol announced today.
Haggerty, from Crosby, Texas, comes to Tulsa following a redshirt season at TCU in 2022-23. His signing now gives Tulsa a total of eight newcomers joining the roster next season.
The 6'3" guard played in six games and averaged 2.8 points and 1.5 rebounds in 9.0 minutes before redshirting. Haggerty had season-highs of eight points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals in 21 minutes against Louisiana-Monroe.
"We're very excited PJ is joining us here at The University of Tulsa," said Konkol. "PJ is a versatile guard with great size who has the ability to penetrate the paint and create for himself and others. We saw him in high school often during his decorated career at Crosby High School and during the summer months with Coach John Eurey and the Houston Superstars. We are happy to welcome PJ to the Tulsa family."
Haggerty had a tremendous prep career at Crosby High School, where he completed his senior season as the Mr. Texas Basketball Player of the Year named by Dave Campbell's Texas Basketball and the Guy V. Lewis Award Winner as the best player in the Greater Houston area.
As a senior, Haggerty averaged 28 points, 6.8 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.7 steals per game while shooting 49-percent on two-pointers and 41-percent from three-point range. He scored a season-high 59 points vs. Terry High School (11/23/21) his senior season, while averaging 33 points per game as a junior.
Tulsa's 2023-24 roster now totals 10 student-athletes with four scholarships still available.
