The American Announces Men’s Basketball Schedule Parings for 2023-24

TULSA, Okla. – The American Athletic Conference has released on Thursday morning the men's basketball league schedule parings for the upcoming season.
Each team in the conference will play 18 league games, including five of its 13 conference opponents twice. Teams will face the other eight opponents once with four games on the road and four at home.
The American welcomes the six additions of UAB, Florida Atlantic, Rice, Charlotte, UTSA and North Texas. Those schools join Tulsa, SMU, Wichita State, Tulane, Temple, ECU, South Florida and Memphis, giving the league 14 members.
The Golden Hurricane will host newcomers UAB and North Texas, as well as Memphis and Tulane in the Donald W. Reynolds Center in the lone matchups of the regular season. North Texas defeated UAB in the championship game of the NIT tournament last season. Memphis fell in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to FAU, while the Hurricane knocked off Tulane in the Reynolds Center in a thrilling overtime game on Legends Night.
As part of the four games on the road, Tulsa will travel to Boca Raton, Fla. to take on Florida Atlantic, who is coming off its first Final Four appearance. The Hurricane will also face SMU, Temple and ECU.
This leaves longtime rival Wichita State, South Florida and newcomers Charlotte, UTSA and Rice as the five teams Tulsa will play twice. Charlotte and Rice both competed in the CBI in 2022-23, with the 49ers bringing home the championship.
The complete 2023-24 men's basketball composite schedule with dates and times will be announced at a later date. The first conference play dates will be January 2-4, 2024 and will run through March 10. The 2024 American Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Championship will expand to a 14-team tournament and be held at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, March 13-17.
